    Up for sale is 1 pound of quahog shell pieces from the waters of Narragansett Bay.  The word "Wampum" comes from the Narragansett Indian word for "white shell bead".  All of these shells have the deep purple and the variegation to make a beautiful pieces of jewelry. These have not been exposed to heat which would make the shell brittle.
