I currently have another listing that is a 3 page letter, these are the only ones I have. St. Anthony is a very fine hotel and part of Texas History.  See notes below!
    The letter is signed by

    Historical Notes
Prior to opening the St. Anthony Hotel, Swearingen had been manager of the famed Hot Springs Resort Hotel of San Antonio.  He had dreams beyond working for other hotel owners and l made plans to find investors to create his own spectacular hotel.  The financing would come from cattle barons B.L. Nayler and H.H. Jones.  Both men were incredibly wealthy.  Jones would later become mayor of San Antonio and die during his term in office.
The men believed that San Antonio was destined to become an important tourist destination and that a luxury hotel would bring an influx of wealthy people coming to the city. Rooms featured mahogany moldings and furnishings and telephones and some had private baths.  It also had doors automatic doors and electric lights connected to room door locks.  It was considered a technologically on of the world’s most modern hotels.
In 1915 it doubled capacity to 430 rooms.
During the Great Depression it began to deteriorate, and the banks foreclosed on the owners.  Ralph W. Morrison, civic leader and rancher, purchased the hotel in 1935 for 5,000 added air conditioning and drive-up registration.  Morrison purchased an extensive art collection to hang in the public spaces, and oriental carpets and French Empire furnishings for the public lounges.  In 1982 the hotel was bought by Inter-Continental Hotels. It was renovated and reopened in 1983 as the
    St. Anthony Inter-Continental San Antonio
. It completed renovations and doubled
    capacity to 430 rooms.
    It has h
osted a wide range of film stars, royalty, and other famous guests and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
    Famous Guests
St. Anthony Hotel has hosted a number of famous people. These include Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Dwight Eisenhower and General Douglas MacArthur, and Vice President John Nance Garner.  Also hosted humorist Will Rogers and Lyndon B. Johnson spent his honeymoon there.
In the moments leading up to his death, Major General Fedrick Funston, who President Woodrow Wilson favored as leader of the American Expeditionary Force in the First World War, was relaxing in the lobby of the hotel listening to “The Blue Danube Waltz. After commenting, "How beautiful it all is," he collapsed from a heart attack and died there in 1917. He was holding six-year old Inez Harriet Silverberg in his arms.  He was forced to choose General John Pershing as his replacement.
