    Description

    This is a 1944 Philippine five centavo coin (no silver-like most US nickels). These were dual national coins (US and Philippines) and were legal tender in both the US and Philippines. The 1944 coins were minted in US mints and brought in when Americans retook the islands from Japan beginning in October, 1944. The dual national coins were not produced in 1942 or 1943 during the Japanese occupation.
