    2 Excavated Civil War .58 Cal. Type II Cleaner Bullets - Manassas
    Listed in Mason & McKee's bullet book as #538. Type 3 is the rarest of the .58 cleaners. Most are missing the zinc wafer on the base as they have disintegrated from being in the ground.
    Soldiers were required to fire a Cleaner after firing so many standard rounds. The zinc base would expand causing it to ride the rifling in the barrel thus cleaning it. Soldiers must not have liked them as we have found plenty of dropped ones in some of the camps.
    I have plenty of inventory so you may not get the 2 shown in the photo but all will be guaranteed to be in excellent condition.
    They were dug from a Civil War camp in the Manassas, Va. area on private property with permission and guaranteed authentic.
