Description
We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling exclusively on eBay.THE BATTLE OF ANTIETAM / RECOVERED ON THE ECKERT FARM (THE CIRCLED AREA ON THE MAP) / UNION IX CORPS (9th Corps) STAGING AREA FOR THE ATTACK AT BURNSIDE'S BRIDGE, ARTILLERY POSITION, AND HOSPITAL SITE - RECOVERED BY THE SELLER, ANDY KEYSER -
Two interesting relic pieces of Fire-melted Camp Lead formed from melted bullets, one resembling a Devil's tail, and the other curled into a loop. The total weight is 0.9 ounce. The 'tail' measures about 1 1/4" long.
These relics were recovered on the Battlefield of Antietam on the Eckert Farm
(private property, with permission)
, on the East side of Antietam Creek,
between the Middle Bridge and Burnside’s Bridge. It was a Union artillery position, was the staging area for Burnside’s attack, and was also a hospital site
. Andy Keyser hunted this area between 2009-2019 and is selling these from his own recovered items.
A provenance letter will be included.
We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess. This includes copies of tags
if there are identification tags or maps, as well as a signed letter of provenance with the specific recovery information.
All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Some land on Battlefields that are now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, were acquired after the items were recovered. We will not sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally.
