    Description

Up for purchase is a OOAK antique hand wrought pair of bronze bookends of Schurz High School, Chicago,  building
    façade
    :
    *  Dimensions:  Each bronze bookend is: 5.25" tall x 5: widest x 2.5" deep.  Together they weigh a little over 8 lbs.
    *  Believe these are hand wrought; could have been by a student; punctuated by an implement; raised on the backside: "20" (I believe that indicates1920) - SEE PHOTO  On the other bookend back, the number two is written backwards; obviously a human error.
    *  According to Wikipedia:  The Carl Schurz High School was designed in 1910 by Dwight Perkins, architect.  It was designated a Chicago landmark 12-07-79 by the AIA (American Institute of
    Architecture
).  The school was named after Carl Schurz, a German statesman who advocated democracy in Germany.  The AIA calls the building "an important example of early 20th century architect using Chicago and
    Prairie
    School of architect."
    *  These bookends are ONE-OF-A-KIND (OOAK); I don't believe you'll find another pair.  Personally, the appear much better looking in person.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
    *  I will ship out within 24 hrs. of payment.  If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
