CHICAGO BLUES PUBLICITY PHOTO: TINY TOPSY 8-1/2 x 11 black & white reproReprint of 1950s Universal Attractions publicity shot of one of the often overlooked big mamas of Chicago blues, Tiny Topsy, who recorded for Federal Records, printed on an 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of 80 lb. gloss text paper. The “Tiny” of her nam is cut off at the bottom left. This photo (actually a collage of five photos) is presumably the work of Gordon “Doc” Anderson, who took photos at the Apollo Theater in Harlem (where Tiny Topsy performed in 1958, 1959 and 1960). Anderson took photos of the first show of each week and had collage prints made which he sold to the performers, who typically worked a week at the Apollo. The Tint Topsy shots are not as sharp or well-lit as most of the Apollo photos but photos of her are rare.
