Description
Armand Soubie was a Frenchman who came to New Orleans, becoming a well known and respected gun merchant and gunsmith located at 160 Chartres Street, during the period circa 1830-1861. Soubie had wide-ranging business interests, including supplying weapons to the Texas population in 1834-1855 period and then to travelers to California. He was an avid fan of Colt's famous revolvers.He also brokered guns to the Confederacy. He returned to his native France about 1862 where he died in 1870.
