    Description

    Civil War Gardiner Explosive Bullet
    This .58 caliber explosive bullet was invented by Samuel
    Gardiner, Jr in 11-23-1863. This bullet was cut in half to show
    how it worked. Made with a 1-1/4 second fuse built into the
    base with an explosive charge in a copper acorn shaped
    container in the center of the bullet.
    Found in
    Chancellorville, Virginia.
    Comes in a Riker display case 5.5" by 4.5".
