    Description

We are working as partners in conjunction with Gettysburg Relics to offer some very nice American Civil War relics for sale. The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling exclusively on eBay.
THE BATTLE OF KENNESAW MOUNTAIN, GEORGIA - RECOVERED FROM THE AREA OF CHEATHAM HILL - THE ASSAULT ON 'THE DEAD ANGLE' - FOUND IN 1972 - FROM THE WILLIAM A. REGER COLLECTION - An interesting looking pile of fire melted camp lead
(soldiers often used cartridges as fire starters and there was a terrible incident in which the brush near the top of the Confederate works went up in flames during the Federal assault, and it is certainly possible that this mass of lead is the result of that brush fire)
An interesting looking pile of fire melted camp lead, which has layers of melted lead, measuring about 1 1/4" by 5/8" by 1/2" and weighing 1.1 ounces
, recovered from the Battlefield of Kennesaw Mountain, Georgia in the area of the assault on Cheatham Hill in the area known as 'THE DEAD ANGLE'.
    - Found in 1972
    .
The original Type-Writer typed Tags included in the grouping, read as follows - "Civil War Rifle Bullets dug in area near Cheatham Hill on the edge of Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield, Georgia. Area of Main Assault by Sherman Against Johnston on June 24, 1864. Bullets found in 1972", and the second tag reads "Civil War Rifle Bullets dug in area near Cheatham Hill, on the edge of Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield, Georgia. Area was in main assault against Johnston on June 27, 1864".
This bullet was a part of the collection of William Reger from Berks County, Pennsylvania, who carefully documented his relics by recovery location and often recovery date. He passed away in Reading, Pennsylvania in 2011. The original type-writer typed tags which are shown are not included, as they were the only tags that Reger included with the grouping, however a copy of the tags, as well as a provenance letter will be included.
We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess. This includes copies of tags if there are original identification tags or maps, as well as a signed letter of provenance with the specific recovery information.
All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Some land on Battlefields that are now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, were acquired after the items were recovered. We will not sell any items that were recovered illegally, nor will we sell any items that we suspect were recovered illegally.
