    Description

    From Wikipedia;
    Model 1853 Enfield Rifle (.577 caliber): The British M1853 Enfield rifle was imported in large quantities by both the US and CSA and became one of the staples of Civil War infantry, and it saw use in almost every major engagement of the war from Fort Donelson onward. Both two and three band versions were produced, the latter being vastly more common. Enfield rifles began being imported in the summer of 1861, and it is recorded that the first issues of them to regiments were being made that August. The US government ceased importing new Enfields in late 1863, but as many as a million of them may have been purchased by both sides.
