    Description

Own a unique piece of Chicago history! This original baluster from the historic Edgewater Beach Hotel resort in Chicago, Illinois, is an exceptionally rare piece of architectural history. Designed by Marshall and Fox in 1915-16, the Edgewater Beach Hotel epitomized glamorous North Shore living, marrying posh country club atmosphere with the all the amenities of a luxury beachside resort. As the only urban resort of its kind, the EBH played host to some of the biggest names of music, entertainment, and politics for over 50 years until its demolition by 1971. This one-of-a-kind artifact lives on as a testament to the craftsmanship of the past and would be the perfect addition to any museum or hobbyist’s collection.
This piece is made from cast cement and iron rebar, displayed on a makeshift pedestal stand lined with green velvet fabric and affixed with a gummed c. 1930s foil Edgewater Beach Hotel sticker (unused in a protective plastic sleeve). The piece measures 18-3/4” from bottom of baluster to top, or 20-1/4” from bottom of base to top of baluster. Baluster measures 6” across or 13” across including base. Baluster weight is approximately 30lbs/13.61kg.
