Hello  let me start out by telling you all items I have listed were part of John --  collection he was a amazing digger in the 1970s and 80s he was based out of Remington va and usually dug on the other side of the bridge in Culpeper county va,  being the battle brandy station and other local camps, he was a good person and knew all the locals so permission to dig was no problem, most of the camps and battle field were virgin at that time, he passed away about 8 years ago and I am honored to have bought his collection from his family, I use to dig with John and knew him very well, I have over 20 thousand bullets over 150 buckles and plates and 100s of buttons also 1000s of camp and battle field relics to sell.
ok in the lot you are buying one bullet out of the above photo, John had hit a field hospital site in a field at the battle of brandy station and got into the trash pit from the hospital. he recovered  bullets bottles bones plates buckles buttons from the massive trash pit, each of these bullets were chewed on and know as pain bullets, as the solider was being operated on, or amputated  loosing a leg or arm., they were given one of these to chew on to brace for the pain that they were going to endure, there were no pain killers some used whiskey but that was in short of demand, these bullets are rare to find and even rarer to find this many in one spot. these were from a union Hospital and are union bullets, I will be also listing some of the hard impact bullets that had been removed from the bodies of union men, I also have a few bones with bullets intact that were dug in the same pit.  in this sale you are buying 1 Pain bullet a excellent addition to you collection, Please keep your eyes on my listings, it will take me a long time to list this collection
