    Description

Scarce Civil War Relic .45 Berdan’s Sharpshooter’s Bullet Found New Kent County Virginia. The unfired ball mics at .43 & would have been loaded into a .45 bench rest rifle with a patch. When the range was accurate, these 28-30 lb. telescoped rifles were accurate up to 800 yards. This ball was found in New Kent County Virginia some fifty years ago at the site where Berdans men camped and discarded some of their heavy rifle bullets. (Also found was a scarce bullet starter.) It was not until May & June of 1862 that the regiment was issued the M1859 Sharps Rifle.
