    Description

SHOFAR Menorah and Jerusalem Silver Plated Yemenite Kudu Israel 29"-31"
his gorgeous Yemenite shofar for use during the Jewish High Holy Days is an artful representation of the beauty of our nation’s homeland.  Stamped on one of the shofar’s three silver-plated sleeves is the word JERUSALEM, referring to the Holy Land’s historic capital; the other two sleeves depict imagery of the nation’s well-known artifacts: the golden menorah known for its use in Jerusalem’s Holy Temple, and a gold coin stamped with an ancient palm tree design.  The Judaica shofar itself is special in of itself, for it is made from the horn of the African kudu, whereas shofarot today are more commonly made from rams’ horns.
The shofar is a special wind instrument used traditionally by the Jewish people during the Rosh Hashana (New Year) holiday.  Shofarot (as they are called in Hebrew in the plural form) are commonly made from the horns of kosher animals, such as sheep and rams.
