A little history on Stangl according to the internet:
The company was originally founded in 1814 and was known as Samuel Hill Pottery. It remained under this name until 1860 when it became Fulper Pottery.
Upon Fulper's death in 1928, Stangl became president of the company and only the Stangl Pottery line was produced after 1935. From 1929 and onward, the pottery had the marking Stangl or Stangl USA.
The company's name was changed to Stangl Pottery in 1955, but the company's dinnerware had the Stangl mark from 1929. When Stangl died in 1972, the company's assets were sold to Frank Wheaton, Jr., the owner of Wheaton Industries.
Stangl contributed to the World War II effort by teaching basic techniques to local women so that the company could produce red clay dinnerware. Both the carvers and painters put their initials on the back of the dinnerware.
The pottery was produced until 1978 when Pfaltzgraff bought the rights and the rest of the assets were liquidated.
Unfortunately in 1978, the company ceased production and closed its' doors for the last time. There dinnerware and other pieces are still prized by collectors and are even found in the collectors books of Harvey Duke. Pieces can be identified by the Stangl name on the bottom.
The designs of Stangl dinnerware were created by Kay Hackett, and featured folk art designs that were inspired by and based on Pennsylvania Dutch motifs as well as nature motifs such as fruit, garden flowers, and thistles.

    About Us
We are a family who loves history and treasure hunting!! Our business is a small one run from our house which is smoke free and pet free in the area where items are stored and listed. It is just Myself, My Wife, and our 18 year old daughter who also loves History and Picking. Before we list any item we give it a good once over to check for damage as well as research the item as best as we can to bring you the most information we can give you. We are not experts in anything but have a love for learning all. We work very very hard to keep our customers happy and coming back. If there are any issues all we ask is that you do not open a claim or leave negative feedback, contact us first and give us a chance to make it right for you, then if you are still not satisfied, do what you must (rarely happens but we are human). We pick several times a week so we are always listing new finds so check back often and save us in your favorite sellers. We also love to check out and buy estates, collections, ect. so if you are in the area or close to us, and you fall into this category, please let us know and we will contact you. I am a teacher who teaches technical theatre and my wife helps me run the antiques and collectibles side of things. We try to teach our daughter about honesty, integrity, and responsibility and this is one way we do that so every transaction with us in an honest one! This is what we do and this is what we love. Please feel free to email us and ask us any questions you may have :)
