Vintage Royal China Currier and Ives Blue & White "The Sleigh Ride" Butter Dish
For your consideration is a lovely Royal China Currier and Ives pattern piece of a decorated butter dish with lid
and features a horse and buggy scene on the lid and a horse drawn sleigh scene called "The Sleigh Ride" on the dish.
This piece measuring approx. 8.5" x 4" x 2.5"
From the late 1940's through the 1980's, Currier and Ives artwork made its way onto plates, creamers, sugar bowls, casseroles, bowls, tureens, butter dishes and just about every other piece of kitchen and dining ceramic piece. They were quite popular throughout their production. They were sold by grocery stores, through the Sears Roebuck catalog and were even given away with soap and by banks using them as an incentive to open an account with them.
